Analyze your Commander deck

Paste your Commander decklist — Moxfield, Arena or MTGO — and find out whether it casts its spells on time. No account, nothing to install.

How do I copy my list?

Moxfield: open your deck → More → Export → Copy plain text.

Arena: in the deck, click Export; the list is copied.

MTGO: File → Save as → text, then paste its content.

What cast rate tells you

What is cast rate?

Cast rate answers one question: does your deck cast its spells on time? For each spell, it estimates how likely you are to have the mana, in the right colors, on the turn you want to play it. A deck can look fine on paper and still stumble in real games, and cast rate puts a number on that risk before you shuffle up.

Why a mana curve isn't enough

A mana curve only counts how expensive your cards are. Cast rate looks at two separate signals: color, whether you find the right colored sources, and speed, whether you find enough mana in time. They can disagree. A deck with a low curve may still stall on a color it cannot produce reliably, and a perfectly fixed deck can still be slow. The score is read against decks of your own Commander bracket.

What to change when your deck scores low

The levers are the cards that make your mana better. Multicolor lands fix your colors, mana rocks add speed and sometimes fixing, mana dorks do the same early in the game, and land tutors find the missing source. Swap in a few of them, run the analysis again, and watch which signal moves.

Deck analyzer FAQ

What is a good cast rate?

There is no single magic number. Fetch sums up your deck in one word, Slow, OK or Casts well, and that word is relative to your Commander bracket: your deck is compared with real decks of its own bracket, not with an absolute ideal. An OK or Casts well result means your spells arrive on time in most games for the power level you are playing at.

Does it work for Commander and 60-card decks?

The analyzer serves Commander and 60-card Brawl, where your commander is declared at the top of the list (a Commander section in your export). Any other list of around 60 cards, such as a Standard or Pioneer deck, gets a message instead of a result: its numbers would not mean anything for that format.

Which decklist formats can I paste?

Plain text exports from Moxfield, Arena and MTGO all work: one card per line, with its quantity in front. The list can hold up to 120 lines. Cards the tool does not recognize are ignored and counted for you, so a typo never blocks the analysis.

Is it free? Do I need an account?

It is free and needs no account. Your decklist stays in your browser for the length of your session and is never kept on our server: only anonymous usage statistics are kept, such as the number of cards and the name of your commander. Creating an account is only useful if you want to save the analysis and follow your deck over time.

How is the cast rate calculated?

It is a hypergeometric probability: given the lands and mana sources in your deck, how likely you are to have the colors and the mana you need on the turn you want to cast each spell. The method follows Frank Karsten's work, calibrated on real decks.
